This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (from Sept. 04) follows:
It is already that time of the year when Google releases its latest OS while other OEMs also gear up for it. Huawei is among the many OEMs that are preparing to release their in-house skin on top of Android 11.
It was reported back in February that the Huawei Mate 30 series devices might be among the many devices from the OEM to receive the Android 11-based EMUI 11 update. Also, the Android 11 double tap on the back gesture feature was said to be a part of the upcoming EMUI 11 update.
Back in July, reports of EMUI 11 being based on HarmonyOS started doing the rounds while the OEM also announced that Android 11 (EMUI 11) will be out in Q3 2020. A list of devices also surfaced which included some of devices that might be the first to receive the upcoming update.
Now, it seems that Huawei is starting with the EMUI 11 (Android 11) update beta recruitment for the Huawei P40, Mate 30, and MatePad Pro series devices. However, the internal test recruitment is not exactly for Android 11-based EMUI 11 but for EMUI 10.1.
Specific devices include Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro, Huawei P40 Pro+, Huawei Mate 30 4G, Huawei Mate 30 Pro 4G, Huawei Mate 30 5G, Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G, Huawei Mate 30 RS Porsche Design, Huawei MatePad Pro, and Huawei MatePad Pro 5G.
This does not mean that the OEM is not gearing up for Android 11 as Huawei is known for such beta recruitment programs right before a major update. The OEM started a similar beta recruitment happened when EMUI 10.1 was about to come out.
Huawei invited owners of the Mate 30 series to the EMUI 10.0 beta program to test new features. Later when the OEM released EMUI 10.1, those part of the EMUI 10.0 beta program were directly shifted to EMUI 10.1 beta.
That said, we would like to believe that this EMUI 10.1 beta program might be similar to the previous programs which could indicate that the OEM is about ready to release the EMUI 11 (Android 11) update along with all the expected features.
Meanwhile, we will keep tracking this story for further development and will provide updates as and when more information becomes available so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb. Also, we have more such stories in our dedicated Huawei section so be sure to check it out.
