New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on August 05, 2020) follows:

We’ve come to a point where there are an abundant amount of music streaming services and podcast applications to take care of our entertainment needs. Further, there are dozens of online radio stations for users who are interested in listen to the radio.

Given the limited number of users who require the FM Radio player on their phones, OEMs such as Huawei have decided to not include the FM Radio player function on their device anymore.

The stock FM Radio app was available on devices running EMUI 8 and on few devices with EMUI 9 such as the Honor View 10 and Honor 8X. But Huawei removed the feature with the EMUI 10/10.1 update.

The company has also officially confirmed this on its support page. As an alternate, Huawei recommends its users to tune into online radio stations by downloading a third-party radio application from its AppGallery.

Of course, the lack of the FM Radio player may not be a big deal for some, but there are several users who want the function to be brought back on their smartphones. The standard FM Radio player does not require one to be connected to the internet.

Therefore, those who do not have access to unlimited mobile data or a Wi-Fi network can listen to the radio without having to worry about internet usage. Moreover, not all radio stations are online.

Fortunately, it seems as though Huawei will cave into its user’s request to bring back the FM Radio player function. Apparently, according to a post on Weibo, Huawei has added the FM Radio function back with the EMUI 11 update as a ‘public test app’.

Does anyone use the radio function that comes with the phone?

Many netizens have complained that many models of Huawei do not support the radio function. Recently, this app has been added to the Huawei public test app.

As expected, the radio function you want is back, and Huawei EMUI11 will return to this function.

Are you looking forward to it?

Thus, users who’ve been waiting for the function to return can now rest assured that they will once again be able to tune into their favorite local radio stations on their Huawei phones.

Although, it’s worth pointing out that not all Huawei phones will get the Android 11 based EMUI 11 update. To check if your phone is eligible head here. Further, some reports suggest that the Huawei EMUI 11 update might be based on HarmonyOS.

We also reported about a leaked screenshot which allegedly showed the first batch of Huawei/Honor devices that will get the EMUI 11 update. And the company is expected to being releasing the update in Q3. So users with EMUI 11 eligible devices won’t have to wait long to get the FM Radio player function back.

Update 2 (September 04)
