Apple to allegedly fix HomePod 14.6 update issue answering current command with response to previous command

Apple forayed into the smart speakers business back in 2018 with the launch of the Apple HomePod, which was received with mixed reviews, but the Siri-powered smart speaker still sold pretty well.

However, Apple discontinued the original HomePod earlier this year to focus on the smaller HomePod Mini. Although, it isn’t the end of HomePod’s lifecycle as it continues to get the latest updates.

Last month, Apple rolled out the second update for the HomePod as version 14.6 which didn’t bring any new features and only had some bug fixes.

And though the HomePod 14.6 update fixed some old bugs, it looks like it brought a new one with it.

Users are reporting that after updating their HomePod to the latest 14.6 firmware, Siri is answering the current command with a response to the previous command.

Having the same issue with one HomePod. The others will light up to a request and do nothing, making me have to repeat it. They respond the second time correctly (Source)

Though Apple hasn’t acknowledged the bug publicly, the user who first reported this bug claims that he got a response from Apple support acknowledging the issue.

He also claimed that Apple support told him that their engineers have filed a bug report and to look out for future software updates which will address the issue.

We can’t confirm the claim but only hope that Apple has genuinely acknowledged the issue and will resolve it in the future through an update.
