High on Life crashing or showing 'Fatal Error'? You're not alone

Released on December 13, 2022, High on Life is a comedic first-person shooter game developed by Squanch Games that takes place in a science-fiction world.

One can play the game on their Windows PC and Xbox consoles. As of now, the game has received mixed reviews and ratings from critics on various platforms.

Many were excited to play the game but were left in dismay as they discovered some of its bugs and issues. Players are currently facing multiple issues on both PC and consoles.

High on Life crashing or ‘Fatal Error’ issues

Players are feeling annoyed because of the recurring game crashes on startup or while playing the game.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), several have been experiencing random crashes and are getting the ‘fatal error’ messages.

Gamers have been complaining that High on Life crashes as soon as they launch it on their system. It appears that the issue affects both Windows and console players at the moment.

For whatever reason when the game tries to load in something, sometimes the game crashes and when I try reload the crash continues to happen unless I completely restart my pc. It literally happens at anytime the game has trouble loading something. Any fixes? Or am I the only one who has this issue. I’m on the pc game pass app version

Spent 3 hours after the game launched and I have not been able to get it going. I have added -dx12 to a shortcut, I reinstalled graphics drivers, restarted PC, verified game files, reinstalled Microsoft visual c++ 2010, no clue what to do.

Others are said to be experiencing crashes while playing the game in the outskirts or the slums area. Some also faced challenges while playing through the Nipulon bounty and the Douglas bounty .

The ‘LowLevelFatalError’ is one of the most common error messages displayed to players after the game crashes.

Recent patch does not fix the issues

Even though the recent patch claims to have fixed some of the issues, players are still experiencing random crashes during the gameplay.

As of now, Squanch Games has not officially acknowledged the problem, and there are no workarounds that can help resolve the crashing or ‘Fatal Error’ issues.

It must also be noted that general troubleshooting steps such as installing a fresh copy of the game, updating graphics drivers, and re-installing visual c++ redistributions, do not seem to fix the problem.

However, if you have lost a save file due to the prevalent crashing issues, you can recover them by following the steps mentioned below.
