New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on June 12, 2021) follows:
One of the best things about streaming services is that they have gone versatile. With growing demands in different demographics and age groups, streaming service providers are making sure it reaches everyone.
HBO Max is one such app that is not only available on major streaming devices but can also be accessed on PlayStations.
Downloading the app is the easiest part as it is only a search away in the PlayStation Store.
This shouldn’t be a problem at all as the HBO Max is already compatible with gaming consoles and the developers actively churn out new updates to address ongoing bugs.
The HBO Max app, however, seems to have broken for many users after the latest app update, suggests a surge in reports on social media channels. Here’s what the users are reporting.
Nobody:
Absolutely nobody:
Hbo max during every show and every movie: oops something went wrong!
After every episode hbo max says oops ‘something went wrong’ and makes me restart the app
This error message keeps throwing users out of the app and nothing other than a restart does the work.
What’s more annoying is that it is quite frequent and appears almost after every time you finish an episode or a show.
It wasn’t enough that even lagging issues also began to plague the app. Some users say the app doesn’t respond promptly and the videos lag too.
Well, at least, users have the official word on it now. HBO Max official Reddit handle responded to similar queries and says this.
With this confirmation, we now know that a fix is being worked upon, and going by the track record of HBO, this won’t take much longer to get resolved.
In the meantime, casting HBO Max from mobile seems to be the only smooth way to stream content on the app.
That said, we will continue to keep an eye on this and update here as soon as we have spot developments in this regard.
We have a dedicated HBO Max bugs & issues tracker so be sure to check that out as well.

Update 5 (August 13)
HBO Max is reportedly working on a completely new application to replace every single connected TV app in the next four or five months.
The various bugs and issues plaguing the existing app have forced the company to develop a new one from scratch rather than patching the current HBO Max app. PlayStation & Roku users will be the first to get it.
