Here’s the crux of the article in video form:
New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on July 9, 2021) follows:
Streaming services are experiencing a pretty big boom lately. Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, and the likes are becoming the primary way for users to get their content.
One such streaming platform is HBO Max, an American subscription video-on-demand streaming service that is owned by AT&T through the WarnerMedia Direct subsidiary of WarnerMedia.
In the past few months, we have seen a bunch of bugs and issues afflicting users of HBO Max, the latest one being users of Samsung Smart TVs unable to update to the latest version of the HBO Max app, more on that here.
Now, it is coming to light that HBO Max has another issue, one that is a little more widespread than the Samsung Smart TV issue we highlighted earlier.
@hbomax @HBOMaxHelp Is there a reason that autoplay stopped working for episodes of series? My chromecast and app are updated to the most recent settings. Not impressed.

According to a section of HBO Max users, the service has recently stopped the autoplay feature for its users. As a result, videos jump to the start of the episode instead of going to the next one.
A quick scroll through the community forums and you will come across dozens of reports from HBO Max users, all pointing out this broken autoplay feature.
Some also report that on the rare occasions that HBO Max auto-plays the next episode in a series, it crashes.
HBOMAX in general is glitchy for me. It rarely if ever auto-plays the next episode in a series and when it manages to, it crashes. And randomly when you pause it the audio doesn’t come back until you play/pause/play again.

This issue has since been brought to the attention of HBO Max and in response, support says that it’s a known issue and they’re currently working on a solution.

Update 1 (July 10)
HBO Max support has confirmed that the Autoplay issue has been fixed. Users might have to close the app and relaunch it for the fix to come into effect.
