Google Hangouts is a great way to stay in touch with a number of people. Owing to its availability on multiple platforms, it is one of the most useful Google products.
Until recently, Google Hangouts users were able to make phone calls internationally by recharging Hangouts calling credits.
The company charged a minimal fee per minute that led to the service’s growth and popularity. Last year, Google announced that they would be shutting down the Hangouts Call Phones feature.
Google did this to comply with the new telecommunications regulations introduced in both the E.U and the U.S. However, U.S citizens can easily make phone calls if they switch to Google Voice.
Unlike others, Google Hangouts handed out refunds to those who had some credits in their account when the service shut down.
Since the phone calls feature will be ported to Google Voice, Google has announced that Hangouts phone call history will be deleted in the coming days.
The tech giant also sent a notification to Hangouts users whose phone call history will be deleted. If you are one of them, you might have received a notification like this.
Hangout users will soon be making the switch to Google Voice as new users. The deletion process will be carried out throughout the month of September.
Keep in mind that Google is allowing users to export their data until July 2021. So, make sure you have backed-up all your Hangouts phone call history.
