Every year, EA Sports releases a new version of FIFA. The football emulator is one of the most popular and widely enjoyed video games of all time.
Last October, the company released FIFA 2021, which included several new features such as an improved lighting system and faster loading times.
In March this year, EA brought the game to Google Stadia. If you remember, Google’s cloud-based video game streaming service lets you play games anytime, anywhere.
But when FIFA 21 came to Google Stadia, it encountered a weird bug. Several players complained that they could not save their file settings, such as personal settings and career progress.
This made the game unplayable for many gamers who were interested in the single-player aspect of the game.
After a backlash from the community, Google and EA finally acknowledged the issue and said they were fixing it.
A couple of days later, a patch fix was released. The update finally enabled players to save their personal settings. But it looks like the patch did not work as intended.
Update – April 16, 2021 (RESOLVED)
Hi folks, we received confirmation that a patch has been rolled out, so this issue should now be resolved. Please reach out to EA’s support team if the issue persists on your end.

FIFA 21 players on Google Stadia have complained that the bug is now back and that their file settings and career mode progress have vanished again.
It is really frustrating to lose all progress in the career mode since players have spent hours grinding the game.
Fortunately, Google Stadia was quick to acknowledge the issue and said that they are aware of the file setting bug when playing FIFA 21. However, the company hasn’t given an ETA for the fix.
Hey Dave, we’re sorry to hear about that. We know how important your game progress is. We’re aware of this and we’re working with our partner publisher on a fix. We appreciate your patience.
We hope that Google and EA fix the file setting bug for good this time. Till then, the game will be unplayable for thousand of players who have bought the game on Stadia.
