If you have an Android device, chances are pretty high that your phone comes with the Google Play Store pre-installed.

Formerly known as Android Market, Google Play was initially released in October of 2008 and is one of the largest app stores on the planet, with over 3.48 million mobile apps available.

Having said that, Google Play users do experience some bugs every now and then such as the recent “Couldn’t complete your transaction, Gift cards can only be used in the country they were purchased” error.

Now, users are reporting an issue with Google Play that is preventing them from making payments when making in-app purchases using 1-tap buy.

Many have reported that they are getting payment error OR-REH-04. Users said they have verified alternate email and phone numbers but that does not seem to be working either.

Contacting Google Play customer service hasn’t helped either. You can take a look at the error in the image below:

It looks like the issue is on Google’s end and there is nothing users can do about it. The company is yet to acknowledge the issue.

People are furious about why the Community Manager did not help users who are stuck in the same boat as them.

Thanks for reaching out on the Google Play forum! We’ve sent you an email regarding next steps so we can better assist you.

Maybe until then, users will have to resort to carrier billing or make in-app purchases using their credit or debit cards.

In the last five years, Google Play has more than doubled its revenue from $15 billion in 2016 to $38.6 billion in 2020. Since in-app purchases are a big part of how Google Play generates revenue, we hope the company resolves the issue as soon as possible.

It is still unclear why people are getting the Play Store payment error OR-REH-04, so we will continue to keep an eye and update as and when we get more info.
