More then the name of a brand, Google is reliability. It requires no introduction. But what do you do, when the most trusted brand of smartphone locks you out of your phone? Yes, you heard it right.

If Google Pixel users are to be believed, a bug is causing mostly the Pixel XL  line up of the phone to not recognize the correct lockscreen PIN code.

The users took to Pixel phone help page to highlight the problem. The bug seem to be affecting Pixel XL devices majorly, though there are reports of the same impacting other devices in the Pixel line up as well.

What’s relieving is device owners can still unlock their units via fingerprint. But the device still asks for the PIN once considerable amount of time has passed without unlocking the phone with PIN or in case of a reboot. So a lockscreen loop it is! Anyway, take a look at what exactly is happening:

Google’s attitude towards the issue so far is quite unsurprising. A Google product expert replied to one of the threads suggesting users to ‘factory reset’ the affected units. A major bug in the OS and all Google does is ask Pixel users to factory reset their devices.

Let alone Google to provide a fix, they are yet to acknowledge the bug.

Agreed these are smartphones that get frequent OTA updates and hence there will be bugs, understandably. But, there are bug fixes as well, and a bug as severe as this requires eradication ASAP. At least, if a company values its customers, that’s what we all thought of Google. Didn’t we?

As of now, all we can do is suggest Pixel owners to go by what the product expert at Pixel Phone Help suggests, i.e. factory reset their units. Hope it works.
