New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 7, 2023) follows:

The latest iterations in the Google Pixel series have not shown the best performance when it comes to mobile network or cellular signal quality.

There are countless reports from Pixel 6 series users about network or signal drops. Although the related reports have been reduced in the current Pixel 7 series, they still continue to emerge.

For months now, some Google Pixel 7 users have been reporting that their devices are not reconnecting to the cellular network after losing connection. Sadly, the problem hasn’t received a proper fix to date.

Google Pixel 7 not reconnecting to cellular network after losing connection

The first reports about the problem surfaced in October 2022, a few days after the official launch of the Pixel 7 series.

But recent reports confirm that the issue is still present. So, there are still Google Pixel 7 users whose devices are not automatically recovering cellular network after a signal loss (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

Pixel 7 doesn’t reconnect to network

Hello, since I have my Pixel 7 it sometimes disconnects from the mobile network and then either takes a long time to reconnect or doesn’t at all (I have to restart the device for it to do so).

Had a similar issue yesterday. Lost service entirely on my P7Pro. My work phone SGNote10 was perfectly fine. Will look into connectivity settings.

According to reports, the affected devices never automatically recover the signal. Users have to resort to annoying tricks (such as activating ‘Airplane Mode’ or a reboot) to achieve this, but the issue reappears later.

Following complaints in October of last year, a member of the Google team escalated the issue to the development team:

Thank you for reporting this issue. We have passed this issue onto our product and engineering teams. We will update this issue with more information as it becomes available
Source

However, since then there have been no updates on this matter. Also, for some unknown reason, the bug report status was ‘downgraded’ to ‘Feature Request’ in January this year.

Why this is changed to feature request? Its a serious bug!

The change from ‘bug’ to ‘Feature Request’ minimizes an issue that is severely affecting one of the key sections of some units in the Pixel 7 series.

February update made the situation worse for some (potential workaround)

Recent reports suggest that the situation has even worsened after latest updates. Previously, affected users temporarily resolved the issue by turning ‘Airplane Mode’ on and off to ‘restart’ the phone antennas.

But after the February update, even that is not enough, as some users have to completely restart the smartphone to recover the cellular signal.

I also have the same problem but airplane mode does not work. I have to restart my pixel 7.

With the latest update is gotten even worst!!! Now I have to restart, toggling doesn’t fix it anymore!

As a potential workaround, a Redditor suggested that disabling the ‘Adaptive Connectivity’ feature helps resolve the issue.

Also, the ‘Enable/disable Airplane mode’ trick is still working for some, so you can also try it if you’re dealing with the bug.

We will update this story once new related developments emerge.

Update 1 (Mar. 15, 2023)
