Google Fit, like many other Google-owned applications, has been on the receiving end of plenty of attention from the company.

Earlier this month, the application was updated with the ability to measure your heart and respiratory rates from within the app as part of the March Pixel Feature Drop.

This feature was announced in February but it’s only beginning to roll out. Another thing that is also showing up recently but was never announced by Google is the Fit app resetting steps to zero.

Through the official Google Fit support forum, affected users of the service are now reporting that the fitness app has for some reason been resetting their step count to zero.

#Googlefit is broken since daylight savings and they still haven’t fixed it… Home screen does not display heart points or steps. Their dev acknowledge the problem on the google play reviews but still not fix
Source

Started happening last night. A friend is having the same issue. When opening Google fit, it shows the tracker with steps and heart points then flashes and shoes steps and heart points as 0. They are recorded in the journal and show the stats there but not on the main screen. I have tried deleting, reinstalling the app. Resetting phone. Anyone else getting this issue?

According to those experiencing this issue, opening the Google Fit app indeed displays the tracker with the correct step count and heart points but then suddenly turns the count to zero.

For some reason, the step count and heart points still get recorded and even show the stats in the journal, but the same doesn’t reflect on the main screen.

This, apparently, has been going on for several days now and not even resetting the phone or removing and re-installing the Google Fit app solves the issue.

On the brighter side, the Google Fit team has been following up this matter in the official forums and there’s already some good news coming in.

Following up on the swift acknowledgement a while ago, Google is now rolling out a new update to the Fit app that addresses the issue where the steps count keep resetting to zero.

The bug-fixing update is arriving as version 2.52.13 and can be downloaded via the Google Play Store. But since the rollout is gradual, the APK version should also do the trick.

It’s nice to see Google acting swift on such a small but annoying issue. Our hope is that other similar issues affecting Android 11, YouTube, Android Auto and others will equally be addressed swiftly.
