The Google app team rolled out the fix. The fix is available for all versions of Google app, but we recommend you to update the app with the latest version

Original story below:

Be it with Google’s own Pixel phones or Samsung’s flagships, of late, Android Auto has been in news for its broken functionalities. Now a new issue has been added to Android Auto’s bug list – temperature unit in the app doesn’t change (from Celsius to Fahrenheit, or vice-versa) even after user makes all necessary changes.

It was back in November last year, when some Android users brought it to notice that the Android Auto app wasn’t displaying temperature in Fahrenheit, despite the phone, weather apps, and vehicle all set to Fahrenheit.

The complaints started piling up this year in October, when more users began to encounter the same problem. It’s, however, worth mentioning that several recent reports say temperature unit stays Fahrenheit, despite all settings being in Celsius. So it seems to be the case of app not honoring the change, whether from Celsius to Fahrenheit or vice-versa.

As more users started chiming, Google came into action and acknowledged the glitch today. Google employee Yurrim (from Android Auto team) addressed the matter in question, and said

We are working with the Google app team to address the issue

Furthermore, she also suggested a temporary workaround till the problem gets resolved. Here’s what those affected have been asked to do:

set the temperature unit in the Google app setting (not in the weather card) as Peter said – you may need to toggle back and forth when it shows your preferred unit in the setting, as Paul said. Also it may take a few minutes for Android Auto to get the weather card information from Google app after you change the setting in the Google app setting

We hope the company will figure out the root cause soon and do the needful to fix the problem sooner than later. Rest, like always, we are keeping a close tab on all related developments, so stay in touch for all future updates on the matter.
