It doesn’t matter if the present situation has forced us to shift from physical rooms to online platforms, one thing that remains constant is the need for a schedule.
While there are a good number of third-party apps already available, Google Calendar still remains the most favorite pick among users to help them prepare a planner.
From having a wide user base to being easy to use, Google Calendar checks all the boxes and comes in handy.
Google Calendar offers a feature where one can send invites to their fellow mates for an event or lecture via emails or by directly sharing the Calendar links.
When invited to an event, a user can choose to either accept the invite or decline it. The Google Calendar also pushes a notification 30 minutes before the actual commencement of the event which is a plus.
But an issue is gradually picking up more heat where users aren’t getting the email invites even when the emails have already been disbursed by the organizer.
We have one person at our site that we have not been able to share a calendar with. I have sent the invite (to share), but she does not receive the email/gmail invite.
I also tried sending and copying in the URL of the calendar on her Chrome and it says that the URL is invalid.
Users have started coming forward to highlight this issue on the official forums. This is coupled with a problem where “Yes / No / Maybe” buttons on the invitation, at least for those who receive the email, won’t work.
From what it appears, it is the Google Calendar invitation that is buggy and requires Google’s immediate attention.
The affected lot has already tried the basic troubleshooting steps but nothing seems to work for them. But here’s a possible workaround that should just do the job.
We found a solution to this. For our users the problems occurred when they did not accept Googles new Smart Features. To resolve it users needed to do the following:.
1-On Gmail, open “Settings” > “See all settings”.
2-In the General tab, scroll to “Smart features and personalization.”
3-Turn smart features on , then have them try receiving a new calendar invitation. Check that the RSVP buttons are coming up again.
For Android devices, follow these steps.
On your Android phone or tablet,
1-Open Gmail, tap Menu and then Settings and then the account you want to adjust.
2-Scroll to the “General” section.
3-To turn smart features on or off, next to “Smart features and personalization” check or uncheck the box.
Google forum representatives have consistently emphasized on more reportings as it isn’t possible for them to put this under developers’ attention without having its behaviour investigated.
Looking at the emerging reports on Google Calendar invitation issue, we hope forum reps forward these complaints and Google quickly resolves this.
Having said that, we will update as and when there’s an official word from the company or when a better solution is available.
