GoGuardian is a popular educational technology company which offers classroom management and Chrome device management services among others.
All in all, the GoGuardian services are commonly used on Chromebooks to monitor student activity.
However, it seems that students have found an exploit with which they can bypass GoGuardian on their Chromebooks.
As per a recent report from Reddit, students are using an exploit which works with bookmarks to bypass the GoGuardian services.
As a result, it is causing inconvenience to teachers as students are using this exploit to play games during school time.
The original poster has not shared any details regarding the exploit on the Reddit thread for obvious reasons.
Also, the OP has said that GoGuardian is aware of this issue and is working on a fix for the same.
It is, however, unclear whether the issue is indeed being fixed or not as there has not been any official announcements on the matter so far.
It seems that the said exploit can be prevented by disabling the bookmark manager and bookmarks bar on Chromebooks.
Moreover, the exploit has been around for quite some time and has not been addressed by GoGuardian, as per another user report.
So, whether or not the said issue will get addressed by GoGuardian this time remains a mystery.
Hopefully, the educational service provider looks into the problem and resolves it soon as the exploit has been causing inconvenience for quite some time now.
That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will provide more details once new information becomes available.
