Gmail plans to offer more privacy to its customers by incorporating an option to disarm ad personalization.

For those unfamiliar, ad personalization is a feature that scans and uses Gmail content for selling personalized ads. For example, if you have recently exchanged a lot of emails planning a trip to Maldives, suddenly more ads related to travel discounts will start popping.

So basically, the functionality leads to generation of automated advertisements relevant to users based on they have been sending and receiving on Gmail.

Just like G suite, Gmail will soon roll out an option for free customers to inhibit ad personalization. Keep in mind that the feature will still be a part of Gmail. Just that after the change, users will be free to disable it in settings.

If you have been waiting for this feature, Gmail says the roll out will begin later this year. Keep an eye here to catch the update timely.
