Dark mode has been trending for quite some time now. As the name says, the shift in appearance brings you convenience when using smartphones in the night. However, on stable builds of some applications, it still is a rudimentary feature.

Not just Android, even iOS has stepped into providing the users with a system-wide dark mode. And, having the applications to go align with the same theme is truly an icing on the cake. But, on some apps, it’s slowly getting available for everybody.

  • At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  • Tap Theme.
  • Choose Light, Dark, or System default.

For iOS 11 and 12

Did you not find such an option? Well, it is the case with a number of iOS users. Don’t worry! As long as you have a jailbroken iPhone/iPad, you can gain access to the desired colour scheme using Filza.

[Tutorial] Enabling official Gmail dark mode with Filza
Hey, all.
this is something that i haven’t seen discussed here, but it worked for me, so hopefully someone else finds it useful:

1) Navigate to /var/mobile/Containers/Shared/AppGroup/Gmail/Library/Preferences

2) Open “group.com.google.Gmail.plist” with the Property List Editor

3) Switch “kThemingEnabledKey” (at the very bottom) from “NO” to “YES”.

Note: in Filza, make sure you have “Show application name” enabled under Settings>> Advanced options.

So yeah, doing the steps given above will force Gmail to show you an option for turning the dark mode on. You are not getting it in the regular way because the Mountain View giant possibly is A/B testing the same.
