We are no strangers to deceptive email messages that ask for sensitive information or credentials. Gmail introduced anti-phishing security checks for its Android app back in May. And Now, the company has rolled out the same on iOS as well.
Gmail’s iOS app just got a bit more secure, thanks to the new warning message that will show up in case one bumps into a suspicious link in any of their email messages. As the company puts it:
“When you click on a suspicious link in a Gmail message on your iPhone or iPad, we’ll show the warning below. We recommend that you use caution before proceeding, because the link is likely unsafe”
In case Google considers the link not only suspicious but dangerous as well, the user will instead be shown the following page after clicking on the link.
These warnings intend to protect users from getting into the trap of phishing scammers.
