Google Pay still broken after stable Samsung Galaxy S20 One UI 3.0 (Android 11) update, some users report

Google Pay is among the top financial and banking apps but it does not seem to be working on Samsung’s One UI 3.0 (Android 11) update.

It was reported in early November that the Galaxy S20 One UI 3.0 (Android 11) beta received the Google Play Protect or CTS certification.

This was unusual as OEMs usually apply for CTS certification when the stable version of an update is almost ready to roll out.

However, the likes of Google Pay did not work on the One UI 3.0 (Android 11) beta update even after getting the CTS certification.

Now, the OEM has started rolling out the stable version of the said update to the Galaxy S20 series devices but users are still not able to use Google Pay.

While it was normal for financial apps like Google Pay to not work on beta updates, it is unclear why the functionality is still broken on the stable version of Samsung’s latest OS update.

Multiple users have been reporting about Google Pay not working on their Galaxy S20 series devices even after getting the stable OS update.

Also, most reports appear to be from Europe which might be due to the fact that more users have bagged the update in the said region than in the US.

Moreover, Samsung Pay has been working on the Galaxy S20 series since the One UI 3.0 (Android 11) beta update got Google Play Protect certification.

Nevertheless, the actual reason behind Google Pay not working on the stable version of the latest OS update remains unclear until Samsung or Google shed some light on the matter.
