Fortnite 'Proximity Chat' feature demand rises amongst players

Proximity chat is one of the favorite gameplay features in any game. It lets players hear and converse with other players or enemies.

However, it becomes quite an issue when it stops working for players. We witnessed a similar issue with the Warzone 2.0 and New World proximity chat feature.

It gets even worse when the feature is not in the game altogether. That’s why multiple Fortnite players (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) have recently been bombarding Twitter with the demand for a Proximity Chat feature in the game.

It must be noted that this feature has already been a huge success in games like Warzone and Among Us. It lets players communicate and even trash-talk with other players in the vicinity.

But some players definitely take things up a notch and unexpectedly invite funny and entertaining gameplay moments (1,2,3,4). You can check out one such report below:

While Fortnite did briefly introduce the Proximity Chat in the Impostors playlist with the v19.40 update, it was later withdrawn.

So, it shouldn’t be a big deal for the developers to reinstate the feature in Fortnite in general.

However, they haven’t commented anything on the matter. But it’ll surely be interesting to note whether Fortnite gets this feature again or not.
