Update 3 (Sept 11)
Going by reports proliferating on micro-blogging site Twitter, Fortnite servers are down. It’s because of the server maintenance ahead of v10.30 update.

A new update v10.40 for Fortnite will go live today.The downtime of the game will begin at 4 am ET. During the downtime, matchmaking in the game will be disabled.

Update 9 (October 01)
@FortniteGame (on Twitter) says they’re looking into the login issues that PS4 players are encountering. Apart from Fortnite, @UbisoftSupport has also acknowledged the connectivity problem faced y PS4 users.
Here’s what @FortniteGame says:
We’re aware some PS4 players may be experiencing issues when attempting to log in.
We’ll provide a status update once we have more information.
And here’s what Ubisoft has to say:
We’re aware of an issue currently affecting connectivity on PS4 and are working towards resolving this. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience. Please be sure to check this thread for future updates.
Update 10 (October 02)
As informed by @FortniteGame, the down time for the update v10.40.1 has now started. Also the patch is expected to be of a larger size than the usual.

Please note that the patch size will be larger than usual on Nintendo Switch.
Update 11 (October 02)
Downtime is over and update v10.40.1 is now live.

The issues related to the combine after installing the latest patch have now been sorted.
With the release of v10.40.1, the issue involving some players having difficulty queuing into The Combine has been resolved, and the mode has been re-enabled on iOS and Android.
Update 13 (October 22)
Downtime for patch v11.01 has begun now. The patch includes new content for Save the World and addresses some known game issues.
Update 14 (October 29)
Live server maintenance has been scheduled for today, after which update v11.10 will go live.

Update 15 (October 22)
Downtime is now over as update v11.10 is now live. Additionally, players on iOS won’t be able to login until the patch goes live on the App Store. For more details about the update, head here.

Reports have begun to flow in, suggesting Fortnite servers have once again gone down and there’s absolutely nothing that players can do about it.
But brace yourself for a new update that was scheduled for today. Here’s what the official status page tells about it.

Fortnite has confirmed that the maintenance is underway. Therefore, in case you were wondering why you weren’t able to play the game, now you know.

Fortnite confirmed that it’s disabling matchmaking in preparation for the v19.01 update. Now, the servers have also entered into maintenance as highlighted by several user reports (1, 2, 3, 4). The team hasn’t yet revealed any further details regarding how long the maintenance will last.

Fortnite has confirmed that they are aware of issues preventing players from logging in and matchmaking in Fortnite. There’s no ETA for a fix yet, however, it’s highly likely it will be resolved soon.

11:01 am (IST): A lot of Fortnite players are again complaining (1, 2) about the login and matchmaking issues with the game. And confirming these reports, Fortnite Status said that they are investigating it.

04:09 pm (IST): Fortnite Status has informed that the server downtime will start soon and they have begun to disable matchmaking in preparation for the v19.20 update.
Update 51 (February 02, 2022)
10:18 am (IST): Fortnite Status on Twitter confirmed that the issue with matchmaking is fixed now. And the game servers, which were temporarily disabled to investigate this issue, are also back online.
Fortnite game servers are back online and service has returned to normal. Some players may see longer queue times when coming back in, and we’ll continue to monitor this to ensure everything is fully recovered. (Source)

02:38 pm (IST): Many users are now reporting (1, 2) that Fortnite servers are currently down or not working for them.
However, Fortnite support has already confirmed the downtime in preparation for the v20.30 update.

05:08 pm (IST): Fortnite has confirmed that the downtime has now ended. Also, we haven’t come across any fresh user reports on Downdetector, which further confirms the recent outage has been resolved.

12:41 pm (IST): Fortnite is again down or not working for many. And those affected have taken to Twitter and Downdetector to raise their complaints.
12:54 pm (IST): Many players are also reporting (1, 2, 3, 4) that they are getting ‘ESP-BUIMET-003’ error while connecting to the servers.
Unfortunately, the support team hasn’t yet acknowledged this issue. However, we will keep tabs on the latest development and inform you as and when anything noteworthy comes up.

01:40 pm (IST): Many Fortnite players are now reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) that the game is currently down or not working for them and they are getting an error message that says ‘Failed to build manifest for Host’.
Luckily, Fortnite support has acknowledged the issue and said that they are currently investigating it.

03:06 pm (IST): Fresh user reports on Twitter now suggest that Fortnite is down or not working for several players (1,2,3). Moreover, reports on Downdetector also confirm the same.
05:53 pm (IST): Some Fortnite players are getting ‘successfully logged out’ message when attempting to login to the game (1,2,3,4,5).
This issue popped up after the latest update and the developers are aware of it.
We’re currently investigating an issue with some players receiving a “successfully logged out” message when attempting to login to Fortnite. We’ll let you know when we have more details.
