Foldable Motorola Razr phone could finally debut later this year

Almost everyone using a Smartphone knows about the super trendy foldable phones that took the Mobile Phone market by storm, in the early part of the last decade. Motorola’s Razr contributed majorly to the start of the trend back then.

However, present day scenario is a different ball game altogether. Manufacturing a touchscreen smartphone with a foldable display is a pretty complex process. Foldable glass is yet an unsolved mystery, and hence manufacturers have to use foldable plastic display.

Plastic displays are fragile and can get scratched or damaged easily. Take for example Samsung Galaxy Fold? Samsung had to in fact postpone of launch of Galaxy Fold after declaring it officially.

Who is unaware from the fact that Galaxy Fold was canceled from launch just prior to 4 days? The launch was cancelled as there were reports of an issue, where a plastic layer was getting peeled off from some of its display units.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold has been launched recently and Samsung claims to have resolved the issues in all of its unit. Huawei Mate X on the other hand is yet to be released. So it’s fate is yet to be seen. Hopefully Huawei will come better prepared that Samsung.

And same is the case with Motorola Razr. After an initial rumor of release in February, came reports of its launch in Summer. But, nothing like that happened. Cut to now. Reports claim, a someone close to Motorola has revealed the OEM is currently working on its Razr phone and should announce it by the end of 2019.

While the Galaxy Fold and Mate X fold outwards from being a phone to a tablet, the Motorola Razr will fold inward from being a regular sized smartphone  to a very compact gadget.

It will most likely feature a small secondary display once folded where consumers would be able view their notifications and respond to calls or messages without unfolding the phone. But this is just a speculation, so should be taken with a grain of salt, as there is no official word yet.
