FiveM is a platform aimed at giving GTA 5 players an opportunity to run dedicated functional servers to provide a whole new GTA: Online experience.
The platform further spices things up by allowing the usage of plugins, new maps, and custom scripts. This is combined with support forums dedicated to personal servers and client development.
But perhaps the best part is that FiveM doesn’t modify your GTA V installation. Therefore, you can easily switch between GTA 5 and FiveM without the fear of getting banned.
That said, several users are bumping into trouble lately. Reports state that an error 22 (or error 522) notifies of an authentication failure and pops up whenever users try to join any FiveM server.
A few of such complaints [1, 2, 3] have been given below:
@_FiveM an error 22 the requested url returned error 522 occurred while checking the bootstrapper version. How do you fix this?

I got 552 when reinstalling. I got the Authentication Error FIVEM Client Version error when trying to join any server.

It is unclear at this point as to how widespread the error currently is but going by complaints, it does not seem to be impacting all GTA 5 players.
Nonetheless, the FiveM error 22 has now been officially acknowledged. Team Cfx has already identified the source of the problem and is working on a fix as we speak.
As clear from above, the error seems to be due to the downtime of ‘mirrors.fivem.net’. This should not impact gameplay if you’re already up-to-date, but updates and reinstalls may be more complicated.
And being a server-side issue means that there’s nothing that needs to be done from your end. All that needs to be done now is sitting tight and waiting.
When the problem gets resolved, you should be able to login and download stuff like you normally used to without any user intervention.
As always, we shall continue tracking the issue for further developments so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
