Original story (published on July 13, 2021) follows:

The Fitbit Versa 3 is a great health and fitness smartwatch that offers six-day of battery life and comes with Alexa built-in.

Having said that, the bugs and issues associated with the smartwatch are more than the features it has to offer.

Fitbit Versa 3 users have complained for months that the device incorrectly counts the number of floors climbed and the number of stairs taken.

The wrong floor count issue on the Fitbit Versa 3 is not new with some reports dating back to December 2020. Back then, the company did not acknowledge the issue.

Fitbit Versa 3 users again reported the issue in April this year. Unlike last time, the developers said they were aware of the issue and trying to find a solution.

However, the company did not give any ETA on when it would be fixed.

Fast forward to July, and users have started reporting the bug again. The moderators were quick to acknowledge the wrong floor count issue on the Fitbit Versa 3.

Like April, the developers said that they would need time to find a solution and cannot fix it in the immediate future. Once again, users are left in the dark when it comes to the ETA.

The company says that the Fitbit Versa 3 considers various factors such as pressure, elevation, sensitivity, amongst various others when calculating how many floors a user climbs or how many steps they take.

What’s hilarious is that even though users climb like 2 floors, the Fitbit Versa 3 sometimes counts it as more than 50 floors.

Even budget fitness bands track footsteps and floors without any issues, so we wonder why a brand like Fitbit cannot come up with a fix.

Maybe Fitbit developers have other pressing tasks at hand, such as fixing the firmware bug that has rendered several Fitbit Versa 3 and Sense devices unusable for some users.

Whatever the case might be, it is really disappointing to see a brand like Fitbit underprioritizing the issue since many users use smartwatches to keep tabs on how long they walk or the calories they burn.
