Fitbit is one of the most popular options in the market when it comes to health and fitness trackers.

One of the key selling points of Fitbit devices is their ability to record, analyse and manage sleep-related data. Users can access this data using the mobile app and keep track of their sleeping patterns.

‘Sleep Stages’ and ‘Sleep Score’ are two important features in the Fitbit mobile application that help users understand various stages of their sleep and provide them with a score accordingly.

Fitbit users (1,2,3,4,5) have been reporting an issue where Sleep Stages and Score are not working or recording sleep data on their devices.

for several days running I am not getting sleep stages whereas I almost always got sleep stages with the Charge 2.

I recently bought a new charge 4 because my old one had stopped showing sleep stages and health metrics. Unfortunately the new one hasn’t improved matters. Still no sleep stages or health metrics.

In some cases, Fitbit trackers do not record any sleep-related data, while in others the data is completely inaccurate. This makes sleep management a complete nightmare for users.

It appears that these issues are not limited to a specific Fitbit device and affect a wide range of products including the Inspire, Charge and Versa series of trackers.

This also hints at the possibility of this being a problem with the Fitbit mobile application instead of the devices.

Some have already tried common troubleshooting steps like uninstalling and reinstalling the mobile app and restarting their devices but to no avail.

I have tried all of the troubleshooting suggestions (fully charged, cleaned sensors, rebooted device, reinstalled app, restarted phone, etc.), and none of the work.

Unfortunately, Fitbit is yet to officially acknowledge the problem. So, users might have to wait indefinitely until the developers come up with a permanent fix.

We’ll keep tabs on the issue and update this story to reflect noteworthy developments.

Update 1 (February 8, 2023)

01:23 pm (IST): After the recent Fitbit outage, some users began to report that their sleep data is missing from the app (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6). Users are also complaining about issues with stress, readiness and some health metrics data.

Mine is showing today’s steps, but will sleep results from last night ever show up? (Source)

My FitBit still isn’t syncing. The tiles for zones, steps and miles aren’t showing. Tiles are rearranged. Sleep score not showing. I’ve restarted my FitBit but no luck. (Source)
