Fitbit Charge 4 came out in April 2020 and the advanced fitness tracker is used by many due to the variety of features it offers.
While the Charge 4 is a pretty handy tool for fitness freaks, users have been facing a problem with it lately.
As per several reports, Fitbit Charge 4 users have been getting the ‘Check Charger. Battery is not charging’ error message.
This error message appears randomly on the Charge 4 even when the fitness tracker is fully charged and is being used.
It is inconveniencing Fitbit Charge 4 users as they keep getting the check charger battery is not charging error message during their workout, jogging, or hiking sessions.
While it is possible that this might be a sensor-related issue in some Charge 4 units, nothing is confirmed as Fitbit has not made any comments on the matter so far.
Some reports even indicate that Fitbit Charge 4 does not charge when plugged in and starts showing the check charger battery is not charging error message.
Also, this issue has been around since September 2020 and Fitbit has not been able to even acknowledge the problem to this date, let alone fix it.
During the last three times I went cycling, my fitbit gave a notification that the battery was not charging and that I should fit the charger better. I can’t click the notification away so my fitbit becomes useless.
My battery was full at these moments and I didn’t select any workout (automatic recognition is turned off). Does anybody know how I can stop this from happening?

This has further led affected users to come up with a workaround on their own which also appears to be solving the issue for some.
It seems pressing the button on the side of the watch clears the error message at times whereas sometimes the charger needs to be plugged into the watch.
While this workaround might be resolving the problem for some, it is not feasible to plug in the charger every time this error message appears.
Thus a permanent fix for the aforementioned problem is still required from Fitbit’s end. Hopefully, Fitbit takes a deeper look at this problem and resolves it for good.
That said, we will report back with more details as and when we get new information to share so stay tuned.
