Here’s the crux of the article in video form
New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on May 23, 2022) follows:
Founded in 2007, Fitbit is one of the few companies that popularized smart wearables and activity trackers.
Last year, Alphabet Inc. completed its acquisition of Fitbit for around $2.1 billion despite the US and Australian justice department continuing their probe in the matter.
But soon after Google acquired Fitbit, many complained about issues such as the Fitbit Ionic not charging or booting up and the Versa 3 tracking too many stairs.
While Fitbit developers have fixed most of these issues, iOS users are now reporting that the app is crashing on their devices.
The issue is making it impossible for many to check their activities and viewing stats. Users have already tried force-closing and reinstalling the app but these solutions aren’t helping either.
Below are some reports from iOS users complaining about the Fitbit app crashing (1,2,3).
Today I went to open the app like I do every day on my IPhone 12 and instantly the app crashed. I have restarted my phone multiple times, uninstalled and reinstalled it. The app and phone are updated. I have tried reopening it, turning location services on and off. Nothing is working. Is it just me or my device? I am at a loss. (Source)
Every time I go into my app it kicks me out. I can see my steps at the top but then cannot scroll down to anything else so I’m now unable to see my sleep, heart rate, log water etc. Please don’t tell me to log out of everything, turn off my phone, clear cache, uninstall etc etc etc. I have done everything possible and it’s still not working properly. As it turns out, Fitbit developers are aware of the crashing issue on iOS and said it is currently under investigation. But they did not share any timeframe on when the problem will be resolved.
