New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…
Original story (published on August 3, 2021) follows:
Developed by Bethesda, Fallout 76 is the latest installment in the famous post-apocalypse nuclear winter game series.
While the story is a prequel to the original games, it is the first multiplayer game in the entire franchise.
Fallout 76 lets players explore an open world that has been torn apart from the aftermath of nuclear war. Ever since its release, the game also seems to be radiated by various bugs and issues that popped up in the last few years.
The game was criticized by players and critiques alike who pointed to the various technical issues, empty world, absence of NPCs, and bland gameplay with nothing to do.
Since then, Fallout 76 has come a long way and fixed many bugs and issues, with the game being barely alive.
Nonetheless, the game is still receiving frequent updates with the developer squashing bugs every now and then.
The game still seems to have more issues than the number of daily active players. Even after several updates, players are reporting bugs that point towards poor coding practices.
In the last few weeks, players have been experiencing server disconnection issues with some being randomly kicked out due to unknown issues.
Having said that, Bethesda has now announced that they are taking the Fallout 76 servers offline to apply Update 29. Players will be unable to play the game for some time after August 3, 10 AM ET.
Update 29 will bring a lot of new events and changes, while working on fixing some of the existing issues that are breaking the game.
If the Fallout 76 servers are offline for you, remember that it is a planned upgrade and not an issue. You can check the server status here.
Update 1 (August 4)
