Original story (published on Feb 20, 2023) follows:

Since Elon Musk bought Twitter last year, his decisions on the social network have been one of the main topics of conversation on the internet.

One of the changes that caused the most controversy was related to the ‘Verified badges’. These badges became part of the ‘Twitter Blue’ subscription, causing multiple issues during the first weeks.

However, it’s been a few months and the acceptance of the badges being part of a monthly subscription has grown a bit.

Now, it seems that Meta wants to implement a similar ‘Verified badges’ system on Facebook and Instagram. But, a new development leaves some doubts about the future of this initiative.

Facebook & Instagram ‘Verified badges’ post taken down or inaccessible from Help Center

‘Meta Verified’, the Meta verification service for Facebook and Instagram, was recently launched. The business model is similar to the one implemented by Musk on Twitter, with a monthly subscription.

However, verification for Meta services is more expensive. Users can subscribe for $11.99 per month from the web, or $14.99 from the mobile app.

The announcement generated mixed reactions on social media. Like other new announcements from the company, there was a dedicated section in the ‘Help Center’ of both Facebook and Instagram.

But, for some unknown reason, the ‘Meta Verified’ section that explained everything about the ‘Verified badges’ is now inaccessible from the Facebook and Instagram ‘Help Center’.

The reason that the official announcement has been taken down is unknown at this time. That said, we will update this story once new developments related to the issue emerge.

Update 1 (Mar 20, 2023)

06:28 pm (IST): Although Meta had removed its post about the introduction of ‘Verified badges’ on Facebook and Instagram, it appears that the subscription for these badges is now available in the US.
