There are new updates that have been added to the bottom of this story…

Original story:

Looks like communications service provider EE’s network is having issues as a lot of users are complaining. Affected ones are taking to social media platforms like Twitter to share the problems they are experiencing.

Here are some reports:

https://twitter.com/jord19x/status/1130769621122994176

Specifically, the phone/mobile network seems to be down. For its part, the company’s social media teams are trying to debug individual complaints.

Can you please restart your phone?

However, switching off and on isn’t making any difference for many users. Here’s what a user said:

I have already done this and I’m still unable to make or receive calls – which is not ideal when you need access to these services to get your work done. By the sounds of it the EE service is down across London and this isn’t an isolated issue

Another users said they confirmed with EE business support team that it is nationwide outage.

This is a nationwide issue, I’ve spoken to the business support team who are aware of it. It’s affecting outgoing calls

So far, no statement or official word has apparently been issued on the matter. However, according to The Sun, EE is actively looking into the matter.

If you are affected, rest assured, we are keeping an active tab, and will update the story as and when more info comes to light. So keep checking back.

Update 1 (May 21)

EE has now issued the following statement through its social media channels:

We’re aware that a small number of customers are unable to make some calls over 4G. We’re doing our best to fix this quickly. Please keep retrying, and we apologise for any inconvenience. WiFi calling, as well as text and data services, are not affected.

Update 2 (May 21)

Revised statement:

We’re aware that a small number of customers are unable to make some calls. We’re doing our best to fix this quickly. Please keep retrying, and we apologize for any inconvenience. WiFi calling, as well as text and data services, are not affected

Update 3 (Sept 09)

Looks like EE is down as of writing this. The outage service down detector also reflects something similar (as can be seen in the image below).
