New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 16, 2023) follows:

Discord is a popular instant messaging social media platform that enables users to communicate with each other through voice calling, video calling, and text messaging.

They can also share media files in private chat or among various communities which are called ‘servers’. It is widely available on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, iPadOS, Android, and other Web browsers.

Though the platform is loved and used by a considerable amount of people, it still has its own share of bugs and issues. For instance, we recently highlighted an issue where the Streamer mode kept getting switched on for some.

Discord ‘You’re out of bursts’ issue

Recently, many reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) about a new issue have been popping up in the Discord community.

The issue is related to adding or clicking on reactions in the app and is characterized by the message ‘You’re out of bursts’ appearing on the screen.

i usually right click to react, but for whatever reason now when i do that it takes it as a “burst”

So, I tried adding a reaction to a message using the little dropdown menu, but then this happens? Do you have to pay for reactions now? I don’t understand any of that.

The issue has caused confusion and frustration among users, and the affected have taken to Reddit to try and figure out what is causing the problem.

Some users suspect that the issue might be related to Nitro, Discord’s premium subscription service, but there is no evidence to suggest that this is the case.

In fact, the problem is allegedly a known bug that is related to a feature that is currently in development. This feature is called ‘Burst reactions’ and was leaked a few months ago in the form of a screenshot.

It’s a known bug. Will be fixed very soon.

According to some users, burst reactions will be a new type of reaction that will explode or amplify on the screen of the user receiving them.

This is similar to the iMessage effects or Telegram special stickers, and there was also something similar in the old and extinct MSN messenger with some special stickers.

It is thought that the bug is a clue that the implementation of burst reactions is near, but there is nothing confirmed yet.

It also seems that the issue is due to a feature in development whose code (or part of it) was accidentally added to the current Discord stable version.

Discord has not yet officially commented on or acknowledged the issue or the feature.

In the meantime, users who are experiencing this issue can only be patient and wait for an official statement from Discord. However, it is also worth noting that this is a bug and it should be fixed soon.

That being said, we hope that Discord developers address the issue with ‘You’re out of bursts’ and provide a solution to the ones affected.

Until then, keep an eye out for updates on this story as we will post the latest developments, if any.

Update 1 (February 16, 2023)

01:06 pm (IST): Some Discord users have started receiving the ‘Super Reactions’ feature (1, 2, 3). This is basically the ‘Burts Reactions’ mentioned in the story, whose name has been changed.

There are no details yet on when a massive rollout of the feature will take place.
