Discord is a well-known social media platform used by millions of people around the world. The company keeps on tweaking its platform by introducing bug fixes and aesthetic changes time and again.
Recently, Discord released an update in which certain UX/UI changes have been made. But it looks like these changes have not been well received by the audience.
Discord mosaic layout change
According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), Discord’s latest update has introduced some changes to its Mosaic layout causing posted photos or videos to get cropped automatically.
A user says that the latest update has made it harder for them to discover photographs. Also, one now needs to manually open up each picture in order to enlarge it or find the desired image.
Another user on Reddit alleges that most of the art and creative server owners and members are disappointed with the change.
Also, in some cases, more than 50% of the image is getting cropped which makes any textual information contained in the image illegible.

Some say that users are taking advantage of this and posting illicit content or spam on the platform.
Due to this, it is becoming difficult for content moderators to filter out or ban content, as now they have to manually click on every image and review it one by one, which is a time-consuming and lengthy process.
Previously, the sorting process was relatively simple, as one could filter out NSFW content at a glance.
It is also worth mentioning that developers introduced the new compact UI to its Android app last year as well. However, even that was not well received.
Users are now requesting the developers to restore the old Mosaic layout. We do hope that Discord listens to the demand of the users and makes the necessary changes.
That said, we will keep an eye on the issues that some Discord users are experiencing due to the changes made to the Mosaic layout and update this story as new events related to the matter arise.
