Popular messaging platform, Discord, just unveiled its much-awaited custom ‘gg sans’ font.

Such was the hype that it got several users asking for a preview or even better, a proper reveal. But now that it’s been released, it seems that not many are happy with the new font.

Do note that it’s not the first time Discord users are expressing their dissatisfaction with new features or changes introduced through updates.

For instance, some were left unimpressed after a new update introduced a yellow border on the screen-sharing window and a new UI with a compact design.

Discord ‘gg sans’ is being heavily criticized

A number of Discord users (1,2,3,4,5) have now taken to various platforms strongly expressing their criticism of the new ‘gg sans’ font.

Reports suggest that several users find the new font style extremely ‘ugly’ and are calling in for an option to revert it.

Some are even saying that symbols like ‘ツ’ and ‘ノ’ make it really hard to read some Japanese sentences due to the proximity.

It seems that the new font also doesn’t support any Cyrillic characters, which only adds more to users’ frustration.

On a brighter note, some are liking the new ‘gg sans’ font due to its geometric design, larger glyphs, and appealing Italic lowercase.

When searching here for “Discord font” I’m seeing lots of hate, but I kind of like the new “gg sans” font. It’s more geometric and has larger glyphs than the old one.
