This story is being continuously updated….

Original story (published on May 07) follows:

Roku OS 10 update went live for everyone a couple of weeks back and brought along a bunch of improvements and features for supported devices.

Firstly, the update offers Apple HomeKit and AirPlay 2 support to select HD TV models and streaming devices. You also get the new Instant Resume feature.

Also, Roku’s Live TV Channel Guide is now easily customizable as per user requirements. All these enhancements make it easier for users to access their favorite content.

Moreover, the update simplifies the setup process with Automatic Wi-Fi detection, gaming console configuration, and Roku Voice for select on-screen keyboards.

And last but not the least, the latest Roku OS 10 update adds support for Virtual Surround sound and HDR10+. There are also some improvements to Roku Voice visual search results.

So yeah, there indeed is plenty of new stuff. But along with all those feature additions, a new bug has also managed to tag along. Users have reported that the Roku remote loses volume & TV control after the latest update:

Remote Volume Control Issue: It seems EVERYONE of Roku ownership will be facing this problem. It just happened LAST NIGHT to us. I think someone goofed in the last “update”. Hey ROKU!!! Please fix this problem BEFORE you lose a customer.

I’m having the same issue. Remote used to work just fine. Now it will not control the sound. I tried re-pairing the remote. New batteries, turning the Roku off, etc. Nothing is working. Since multiple people are having this same issue, is there a fix on the horizon?

Some users have even found the exact version number of the bad update – 10.0.0 Build 4177. Affected remotes include the Voice Remote as well as the Enhanced Voice Remote.

If you are one of the users facing this serious issue, you will be relieved to know that a workaround has helped several users. You are free to try it out of course.

All you got to do is set up your Roku Remote again for TV controls. To do this, simply navigate to Settings > Remotes & Devices > Remotes. Next, select your remote and proceed to “Set up remote for TV control”.

If that did not help, then worry not, for Roku is already investigating the matter:
