New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on March 01, 2023) follows:
Twitch is a well-known live streaming platform that specializes in live game broadcasting. One can broadcast music, original content, and much more.
The platform also makes sure that you respect other creators’ rights in the content you stream and post. And a takedown notice may be sent to Twitch if someone uses another person’s copyrighted work.
Destiny 2: Lightfall Twitch streams getting muted
But, a number of Twitch users are surprisingly receiving warning emails containing copyright claims for streaming Destiny 2: Lightfall. You can find the screenshots (Tap or click to enlarge) of the email attached below.
Apparently, these copyright strikes are a result of the in-game music, and streamers on Twitch are getting muted as a result of this (1,2,3,4,5,6).
@BungieHelp Hello I’ve been loving Lightfall but I have had two out of three streams muted for in-game music. This has never happened before while playing Destiny. Is this a bug in the system or will I just have to play the game with no audio and only have 25% of the experience?

Just got my first copyright warnings ever on twitch just from playing Lightfall. The copyrighted sections show segments where the music played during character dialogue and cutscenes, which makes me worried as I love streaming Destiny 2 but this worries me about doing so.

Some users have even received repeated notifications from Twitch after instances of copyrighted audio were found in their VODs. It is believed that this was never the case with the previous streams and has only occurred with the new DLCs.
Several people find this to be highly perplexing and alarming because only the game’s music is played while streaming. They are completely oblivious to the reason why they continue to experience copyright strikes (1,2,3,4).
Here’s what a Twitch partner said
This issue has naturally concerned a number of streamers and some are asking if it’s safe to appeal a muted audio (1,2).
A Twitch partner said that they were right in relation to this issue. The music in the game is protected by copyright and cannot be streamed even though it is present in the game.
We hope that this justification gives users a better understanding of why their Destiny 2: Lightfall Twitch streams are being muted.
It’ll be interesting to note the further course of action taken by the team in this matter.
We’ll keep tabs on the latest developments and update this article as and when something noteworthy comes up.
Update 1 (March 03, 2023)
06:32 pm (IST): Bungie has acknowledged the issue and said that they are currently looking into it. However, there’s no ETA for the fix yet.
Thanks for the report, we are currently looking into this.
