[Updated] Destiny 2 Lightfall DLC missing for some players, here's the official response; some stuck on Step 13 of Lightfall quest (workaround)

Destiny 2 just got ‘Lightfall’ as its latest major expansion. The update is paid and is full of new content to discover and unlock.

As it usually happens, no update is perfect and sometimes they come with some bugs or aspects to be corrected, especially when it is big.

That said, there are players for whom Lightfall DLC is missing. Also, some players who have been able to access the DLC are getting stuck on Step 13 of Lightfall quest.

Multiple reports indicate that Destiny 2 players are facing issues when receiving the latest expansion content (1, 2, 3, 4).

It seems that those who paid for the annual-pass are the most affected. The annual-pass should ensure that players receive both the expansion and the Battle Pass.

But, there are reports where the Destiny 2 Lightfall DLC is missing, or the DLC is available but the Season Pass is not. There are even cases where both the Lightfall DLC and the Season Pass are not available.

Missing season pass

I gifted my friend lightfall through steam. The item description says it comes with the season pass but in game it is prompting him to purchase it. The dlc is working just fine. Anyone know why? Would this be a Bungie issue or steam issue?

Got scammed by destiny?

I bought Lightfall + Annual Pass ages back when it was first available but now, I apparently don’t own it, didn’t get a refund, can’t play the campaign, can’t use strand, even though I have it installed and bought it 😭

The reports reached the ears of the Bungie team, who offered an official pronouncement. They also suggested that the issue is only happening to Xbox players.

Xbox players having issues accessing their Lightfall DLC may have had their purchase refunded by their financial institution or platform. Players should check that they have the DLC successfully installed and the contents included in their specific owned edition of the DLC.

So, according to Bungie, the problem could be due to a possible refund in the transaction when buying Lightfall.

However, that doesn’t explain why some annual-pass buyers have the expansion available but not the Battle Pass.

Other Destiny 2 players who have received the Lightfall DLC report an issue where they get stuck on Step 13 of Lightfall quest, since the ‘Complete the Hypernet Current strike’ requirement is not counting even after completing it.

Lightfall Mission Bugged Stuck on Step 13/21 Complete the “HyperNet Current” strike

I was doing this on legendary with some buds, at the last mission I noticed I still had to complete the “HyperNet Current” strike, alas, when I go to complete the strike, it doesn’t count. I’m locked out of completing the campaign.

Step 13 wont progress

Made it to step 13 in the Lightfall campaign “Complete the Hypernet Current strike. Finished the strike multiple times and it won’t progress the step for the campaign. Anyone else having this problem?

So, it looks like ‘goal tracking’ is bugged in that section. However, there is a potential workaround that could help you with that:

There is still no official word on this second bug from the Bungie team. We will update this story once relevant new developments emerge.

05:50 pm (IST): Bungie has addressed the issue where the players get trapped on ‘Step 13’ of the Lightfall quest.

The fact that the game currently requires all members of a Fireteam to be in Step 13 before engaging in the HyperNet Current Strike for the first time, seems to be the root cause of the problem.

Moreover, they advise joining a Fireteam member who is already stuck on Step 13 of the Lightfall campaign as a potential workaround. Also, confirm that the said member has not yet used the HyperNet Current strike to unblock themself.

UPDATE: As a temporary workaround, players who are currently blocked can join a Fireteam member currently on Step 13 of the Lightfall campaign who has yet to play the HyperNet Current strike to unblock themselves.
