Apple has always been at the top of its game when it comes to software updates. It seems like the company intends to thread down the same path even in 2019. Apple has released its third beta for iOS 12.2. Since this is a beta version, it is only available for developers; those who have signed up for Apple’s beta software program.

The release of each new beta version of iOS 12.2 is a good indication that a stable version of the build may be just around the corner. The third beta consists of fewer changes when comparing it to other beta versions of the software. However, it does contain a fix for Group FaceTime calls!

A previous version of the OS had a bug where one could listen in to a conversation which was taking place through Group FaceTime calls. This agitated and infuriated a large number of users, causing Apple to disable the feature altogether. While a fix was available in the iOS 12.1.4 update released earlier this month, there weren’t any beta versions consisting of a fix to this annoying issue.

iOS 12.2 beta 3 consists of other changes including an updated Apple News logo, new Apple TV Remote design and even multiple bug fixes and system improvements.

In a similar fashion to the Apple Pay logo, Apple has redesigned the Apple News logo. Instead of spelling it out, the company has opted for using the “” symbol along with the word “News”.

The interface of the “About Screen” section has also been rearranged in this beta update. The updated arrangement seems to be done in a more logical and practical manner.

The Apple TV Remote app, as well as access to it in the Control Center, have been redesigned with a darker yet more appealing interface. Apart from the Group FaceTime call fix, this beta even fixes the lock screen charging bug which previously displayed the iPhone’s charge instead of the date.

Perhaps future updates will not only bring fixes but also new features which can instill a breath of fresh air into existing Apple devices!

The software update love is going beyond Apple iPhones and extending to its Watches as well. Apple Watch Series 4 Hermès edition owners will be over the moon to know that there’s an upcoming watchOS 5.2 update with two new watches faces. This feature will be exclusive for owners of the Hermès Series 4 Apple Watch.

The new watch faces will be in pink and blue and were spotted on the French blog WatchGeneration.fr.

The amazing part about them is that they adapt based on the location of the hour and minute pointers. The new face will be similar to the old ones on the watch as they will only be capable of displaying the date, a specific time zone or a stopwatch. If you own of these watches, keep an eye out for the software update.

Unfortunately, Mac users cannot say the same! Most recent desktop and laptop Macs, including the iMac Pro, 2018 Mac Mini, 2018 MacBook Air and 2018 MacBook Pro have been suffering from an audio glitching problem. Users have taken to various social media platforms to express their irritation regarding the matter.

Apparently, the culprit is Apple’s new T2 security chip. This chip is found in Apple’s most recent Macs. Well, the company has offered a temporary but not ideal fix which involves unchecking the time sync and location sync in the Time Zone tab. Sadly, this is temporary because once the T2 chip attempts to sync again, it will overload the USB 2.0 bus, causing audio glitches.

A new leak has revealed that Apple’s 2019 iPhones aren’t likely to do anything monumental or game-changing. The analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo with TF International Securities, has revealed some of the key upgrades which iPhones in 2019 may possibly have.

According to him, the new smartphones will have an ultrawide band for better navigation, frosted glass casing, bilateral wireless charging, an enhanced Face ID technology, larger capacity batteries and of course an upgraded camera with a triple camera setup being a reality.

The tide isn’t turning for Apple in terms of its smartphone market. Its smartphone market continues to face much of the brunt of being unable to have a foothold in a number of markets across the world. It seems like the company may just be shifting its priorities from smartphones to new and different horizons. This is primarily owing to the tanking iPhone sales in 2018.

Have you noticed how the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, has stopped reporting iPhones sales and now mainly talks about other services including Apple Music, App Store sales, and even additional iCloud storage? Well, this isn’t a coincidence. It’s done deliberately to draw the spotlight away from the diminishing iPhone sales and place it on its growing base of active devices.

While the company has focused on its subscription services in order to add to its existing source of revenue, it has begun to focus a lot on Artificial Intelligence (AI). A growth in AI will open up several avenues of hope for the company in terms of enhanced and developed smart home services as well as health monitoring devices like the Apple Watch.
