Credo Mobile shuts down Credo Action, says no more "direct activism campaigns"

Wireless company Credo Mobile (earlier called Working Assets Wireless) is well known for Credo Action – their online network for activists who take actions both online and offline. But the company has now pulled the plug on Credo Action. Meaning, they’ll no longer engage in direct activism.

The information was shared by Credo Mobile’s Vice President as well as Credo Actions Co-Director John Nelson through their Twitter handle a few hours back saying:

We’re writing today with bad news: As of today, CREDO Action will be shutting down, and CREDO will no longer be engaging in activism campaigns.

A quick look at Twitter conveys, some users mistook the shut down of Credo Action for Credo Mobile’s shutdown and started inquiring about it. Ending the confusion of some such users, Credo Mobile stepped in saying:

I’m happy to say that CREDO Mobile is not shutting down. We believe our philanthropy is the best possible way to advance our values, through the impressive and experienced groups and causes to whom we donate each month. To learn more, please go to http://credodonations.com

Apart from that, here’s what Credo Mobile has to say about the Credo Actions’ shutdown:

CREDO remains deeply committed to advancing our shared progressive values, however CREDO will no longer be engaging in direct activism campaigns. We will instead direct our efforts solely through our philanthropy, continuing to support the groups and causes.

As a gesture of gratitude, Credo Mobile also shared a short video highlighting the accomplishments of Credo Action in the gone year.
