COD: Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2.0 connection issues surface; proximity chat not working for some

Infinity Ward’s recently dropped Warzone 2.0 gives players the experience to play in a brand new battle royale environment.

Although it was released with the COD: Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 update with certain bug fixes, it still has considerable scope for improvement.

For instance, we previously highlighted the Modern Warfare 2 purchase error issue, and the slow downloading speed of the Season 1 update.

COD: Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2.0 connection issues

After a series of COD: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 issues, many players (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) are now grappling with various bugs related to connectivity in the game.

is anybody else getting the bug where you get into a lobby with a friend but can’t connect to the game??

It seems that the glitchy connection is preventing players from connecting to their friends in the lobby and making it equally difficult to join Multiplayer, play Warzone games, and participate in a number of DMZ matches.

Instead of actually performing any function, the game just stays stuck on the loading screen for a considerable duration. Sometimes, it also kicks players out of their COD game randomly.

Even the matchmaking functionality seems to have been broken on Warzone 2.0 thus rendering the game unplayable.

Warzone 2.0 proximity chat not working

Apart from various connectivity issues, many Warzone 2.0 players (1,2,3,4) are also reporting an issue where their proximity chat is not working or appears broken.

Is anyone else’s proximity chat not working on ps5 and do you know if there’s a fix? and also is warzone really laggy for everyone else?

@InfinityWard my proximity chat is not working. I don’t know the real issue I can talk to people in my lobby but can’t hear anyone else? Is it a setting issue

Apparently, this new feature lets players interact with others they encounter in a match if enabled, via the proximity voice chat.

However, it’s currently not functioning well thus running the gameplay experience for many. It should also be noted that this might not always be the case as it sometimes works too.

No official word

Unfortunately, Infinity Ward hasn’t acknowledged the issue where the COD: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 players are facing connection issues. The team also hasn’t commented on the broken proximity chat feature.

We’ll keep an eye on these issues and update this story to reflect important developments.
