[Updated] COD: Modern Warfare 2 'Sys_Error' on Xbox & 'Disc read error' with digital copies on consoles trouble many

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a first-person shooter game by Infinity Ward with a unique weapon progression system and exciting campaigns.

But soon after its release, many issues started to emerge that negatively affected the game. For instance, we highlighted how the 2 XP tokens went missing and game chat stopped working.

And now, many COD: Modern Warfare 2 players (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) are reporting an issue where they are getting a ‘Sys_Error’ on Xbox while playing.

@Activision sys_error on my Xbox series X. Cannot play a match at all without the game crashing. Please fix this.

The game is throwing a series of error codes like ‘Dev Error 356’ and ‘Network error’ specifically in Invasion mode.

The issue is incredibly frustrating as it is impossible for players to complete or play matches without the game constantly crashing.

Disc read error

Some players are also getting a Disc Read Error [8.7] or Disc read error [15.0] while loading the game.

Need to fix the party issues, can’t join my ppl, and when I do, it kicks us after the match I keep getting disc read error, and I’m on a digital console, love the game please fix this issue

According to reports, the issue is only troubling players with the digital copies of the game. Owing to this, the console refuses to start the game and stays stuck on a black screen.

Potential workaround

We have come across a workaround that can help resolve both issues temporarily. It involves uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

I had to uninstall everything….. seemed to work, but really annoying

If ur getting a disc read error, delete the game and download it back it should work I did that and it’s working now

Unfortunately, the developers haven’t commented on these issues yet so those affected can try the above-mentioned workaround.

06:18 pm (IST): One of those affected has pointed out that they are also getting ‘Sys Error’ when using Sakin MG38 for too long.
