COD: Modern Warfare 2 Ranked mode woes: Crashing, 'Kicked for inactivity' & cheaters

One of the most popular first-person shooter games in the world, COD: Modern Warfare 2 brings new gameplay features, immersive multiplayer combat, and more.

The much anticipated Ranked Play mode was also recently introduced in Modern Warfare 2 and it came on February 15 along with the Season 2 update.

However, it’s impossible for the game to be free of certain bugs and issues. Talking about Ranked mode, in particular, the following issues are troubling players at the moment.

Some COD: Modern Warfare 2 players (1,2,3,4,5,6) have taken to Twitter and Reddit to report incessant issues related to crashing during the Ranked mode.

My game crashes while playing ranked, and then I get penalized with a 15 min suspension. What kind of horse shit is this?

Not just that, these constant crashes are then accompanied by a penalty in the form of a ’15 minutes suspension’. And this occurs while almost doing anything.

It is incredibly frustrating for a number of players because the game is basically unplayable now and it’s been happening ever since the recent update.

Furthermore, there are also some players (1,2,3,4,5,6) who are getting kicked out of the game due to inactivity. It appears that they are being falsely identified as inactive which in turn leads to a penalty.

Sincerely , someone who is addicted to ranked, and is getting tired of inactivity and crashes fucking up my streaks, my sr, and suspensions. Just got kicked for inactivity while fully moving around.

Reports suggest that players are getting chucked out even when they are in the middle of doing important tasks in the Ranked mode.

These issues are indeed very infuriating for the affected COD players. However, it seems that the issue is currently under investigation, as per the official Trello board.

Cheaters in Ranked mode

To make matters worse, the number of cheaters and hackers has also skyrocketed in the Ranked mode of the game (1,2,3,4,5).

Can we sort out the insane amount of cheaters in ranked play? Seems every second game has at least 1 and it’s getting out of hand. Is Ricochet on ice or something?

Players are reporting that they run into cheaters pretty often and it is making the game tedious and unenjoyable. Some are convinced that the anti-cheat is not working as there are evidently many hackers in the game.
