COD: Modern Warfare 2 'bright colorful light' issue troubles players, but there’s a workaround

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a well-known name in the first-person shooter genre. Infinity Ward frequently adds new features, customization options, and gameplay balances to keep players engaged.

However, some occasional bugs and issues end up spoiling the gameplay experience for many.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), some Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players are facing a graphical bug where certain game textures or objects become highly bright and colorful.

The issue has popped up after the recent NVIDIA 528.02 graphics driver update and affects both multiplayer and campaign modes.

A player complains that the problem appeared only after switching to a new dedicated NVIDIA graphics card. They further say that their whole screen gets covered with distracting lights shortly after starting any match.

Another gamer alleges that the same problem appears to them in the multiplayer mode and renders the game unplayable.

Even after lowering the shader settings and restarting the game numerous times, they were unable to get rid of the bug.

This light glitch has randomly been happening to me since I got the game, now it’s affecting ranked… Any fixes?

Players have even tried clearing the shader cache, verifying the game files, and uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics drivers and the game as well, but to no effect.

Fortunately, we did come across a potential workaround that may help solve your problem. It is recommended that you install the older version of NVIDIA graphics drivers (build 527.56).

If this doesn’t work for you, then you can try recompiling the shaders.

We do hope that developers soon fix compatibility issues with the latest NVIDIA graphics drivers.

That said, we’ll keep tabs on the issue where the ‘bright colorful light’ bug is affecting some Modern Warfare 2 players and update the article accordingly.
