New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…
Original story (published on April 7, 2021) follows:
Chromecast is one of Google’s Avant-grade innovations that lets users stream media from smartphones or PCs directly to a TV.
When plugged into a TV, this can even turn a regular TV into a smart TV, enabling every possibility, from streaming movies to enjoying games on the big screen.
No matter how well or perfectly a machine is built, it is bound to have certain bugs and issues.
The Google Chromecast 3 has recently begun troubling users with audio stuttering issues when streaming 1080p videos at 60 frames per second (fps).
The users who have been facing this stutter in the audio while connected to the Chromecast lately are now raising their complaints on the Google forums.
Since recently (new firmware with rounded corners) I have noticed that youtube videos 1080p @ 60fps, have stuttering and skipping audio.
The issue persists only when the video quality shifts to the higher 1080p60 resolution while working just fine with 1080p @30fps videos.
A user has confirmed this bug’s existence on Twitch.tv’s 1080p 60fps too and has communicated the same to Twitch.tv Support.
I also explained the situation to Twitch.tv Support (Mar 2, 2021). This problem also exists for twitchtv 1080p60 streams, not only youtube. Hopefully, they will communicate with Google and sort this issue out. I mean 8 months is too long to not give us at least the working old firmware.
Here’s the alleged response from the support of Twitch.tv suggesting that the issue has been forwarded to the devs.
This is coupled with a weird rounded corner interface on the YouTube app which doesn’t appear serious but is still very annoying.
am glad I found this issue, came here from the rounded corner thread which I found in some news site.
This is extremely annoying and makes the Chromecast unusable for certain content. Source
Users expect both these long-lying bugs to get fixed real soon as the stuttering audio terribly affects the streaming experience.
We hope that someone from Google in the forum quickly takes note of it and passes this on to the concerned teams.
