The Chrome OS 90 update came out last month much to the delight of several Chromebook users.
However, some Chrome OS 90 users started facing performance issues with Android apps after the Android 11 update.
Now, it seems that the latest Chrome OS 91 update might further complicate matters for Chromebook users.
The Tote feature in Chrome OS allows quick access to pinned or recent files on Chromebooks but several users are not quite fond of it.
As per a Reddit thread, the flag to disable or hide this feature is missing on the Chrome OS 91 update and users are certainly not liking it.
It is possible to disable/hide Tote on Chrome OS 89 and 90 by typing chrome://flags/#enable-holding-space in the address bar and then selecting the Disable option in the resulting flag.
However, a user did point out that the Chrome OS 91 version might not include the said flag almost a month ago and now more users are noticing the same.
You can disable the Tote feature at chrome://flags/#enable-holding-space for now, but the flag will be removed in a future version (looks like v91).

It is unclear why Google chose to remove the said functionality as no comments have been made by the tech giant on the matter so far.
It is possible that a future Chrome OS update might include the flag to disable/hide the Tote feature.
This, however, is still based on our speculation and the flag removal might be because the feature is designed for ease of access.
Hopefully, Google provides more clarity on the matter or adds the Tote flag back in an upcoming Chrome OS version.
