[Updated] Cash App issue where payment is stuck on 'pending' under investigation, fix in the works

Many frustrated Cash App users have taken to Twitter and Reddit to report that their payment is currently stuck at ‘pending’ and not processing.

Since Cash App is one of the most popular apps to send and receive money, thousands of users are stranded at the moment since they haven’t received the money or aren’t able to make payments.

We’ve added a few reports from users for reference. Check them out below:

i recently cash apped someone i regularly cash app and it took the money from my acc and i got the conformation but on their account it says the payment is “pending” is that an issue on my side or the other persons? (Source)

Most users say that the money transfer is successful on the sender’s end, however, they do not receive it on their Cash App as the payment shows up as ‘pending’.

Of course, this isn’t the first time the issue has popped up and Cash App isn’t the only payment app to have issues with the payment getting stuck on pending.

That said, users might find some solace in the fact that the company is already aware of the issue and is currently working to fix it.

Cash App support responded to a user’s complaint regarding the issue with the following message:

Hey – our team is working as quickly as possible to resolve the issues causing pending payments. Any pending payments should complete automatically as soon as the issues have been resolved. We will be posting updates to our status page here: https://help.cash.app/38qX5xG. (Source)

The official Cash App status page also indicates that an investigation is currently underway.

Since this appears to be a server-side problem, a fix should go live for everyone at the same time and there shouldn’t be any need to update the application.

Cash App is also requesting users not to re-attempt transactions if their payment is stuck at ‘pending’ to avoid duplicate charges.

Furthermore, while Cash App support hasn’t mentioned an ETA for the fix, we expect it to be resolved sooner rather than later.

Update 1 (February 23, 2023)

08:37 am (IST): Multiple users report that the Cash App servers are down or not working (1, 2, 3), causing transactions to get stuck in ‘Pending’ status (1, 2, 3).

12:00 pm (IST): Cash App servers issues that were causing transaction delays have been resolved.

Update 2 (February 24, 2023)

08:33 am (IST): Cash App users are dealing with connection issues that prevent them from completing transactions. The Cash App team is aware and working to resolve it.

Update 3 (February 25, 2023)

08:55 am (IST): The current status on Cash App’s official website indicates that all its services are functioning as expected.

Update 4 (February 27, 2023)

09:56 am (IST): Although the issue with Cash app was said to be fixed, fresh reports continue to pour in, suggesting that it still persists. And the support team is now asking those affected to DM them on Twitter.

Update 5 (March 1, 2023)

06:00 pm (IST): The absence of new reports in the past few days suggests the issue has been resolved.

Update 6 (March 8, 2023)

01:15 pm (IST): The issue where payments get stuck in ‘pending’ status has re-surfaced for some users (1, 2, 3).

05:15 pm (IST): Cash App team has resolved the issue that was causing some payments to get stuck in ‘pending’ status.
