Some of you would have just got your brand new Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ unit, and are likely to be busy customizing it to suit your needs and taste. If that’s the case, we would like to tell you something that’ll save your time – you can’t change the size of text font in the stock Messages app.

A number of users have been complaining about this, and the final nail in the coffin came in the form of an official confirmation from Samsung. In an email reply to a user who asked the company about this missing feature, Samsung said there’s currently no option to change font size of text messages on the Galaxy S9 smartphone.

It’s worth mentioning that Samsung’s last year’s Galaxy S8 flagships had the option to change font size in the built in Messages app – see here.

There’s an active discussion going on over at XDA as well, and people there are speculating it to be a bug. However, the email confirmation from Samsung makes it clear the company knows about the missing option, and the language of the rep in the email indicates it’s a deliberate change.

It’s hard to understand why Samsung stripped off a feature that’s crucial to so many people. We hope this change is reverted in near future through a software update. In case Samsung offers clarification on the matter, we’ll surely update this story.
