AT&T LG Arena 2, LG Neon Plus, & LG Prime 2 Android 10 (LG UX 9.0) updates released

In the Android scene, flagship devices, and to some extent, mid-range devices often get all the love when it comes to updates. Entry-level devices rarely get updated to new versions of Android, often owing to hardware limitations. As such, some budget LG devices haven’t been updated to Android 10.

We’re on the brink of the launch of Android 11 and as mentioned, some outlier devices that are still eligible for an update to Android 10 have not yet bagged this much-awaited update. Case in point, the AT&T variants of the LG Arena 2, LG Neon Plus, and LG Prime 2.

Today, these three devices on AT&T are finally getting updated to the OEM’s LG UX 9.0 on top of Android 10. First up is the LG Arena 2 (LM-X320APM). This device sports a 720×1440 display, 2GB RAM and storage options start from 32GB. Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM 8917 Quad-Core chip clocked at 1.4 GHz.

This update brings the software version on this device to X320APM20e and also carries the May 2020 security patch level. The changelog hints to little more than an updated version of Android and a newer security patch.

Also getting updated to Android 10 is the AT&T LG Neon Plus (LM-X320AM8). This device packs a 3,000mAh cell, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage and a 720p display. The Android 10 update for this device brings the May 2020 security patch and bumps the software version to X320AM820e.

The other budget LG device on AT&T that is getting updated to Android 10 is the LG Prime 2 (LM-X320AA). Like the other two, this device packs a 1440 x 720 display, 2GB of RAM but skims out on internal storage, starting at 16GB.

Android 10 for this device brings with it the May 2020 security patch and the software version for this update is X320AA20e. The changelog is equally vague, stating that this update only brings Android 10 and an updated Android security patch.

It is refreshing to see an OEM strive to roll out new builds of Android even to low/entry-level devices in their catalog. We can only hope that more and more OEMs borrow a leaf from what LG is doing.
