Atomic Heart hit the market about a week ago after a lot of hype behind it. It seems that the game is fulfilling the high expectations that the players had.

However, there are still some things to correct that keep it from perfection. For instance, some players don’t like that you can’t change the FOV, while others are facing issues with the save-game system.

Now, Atomic Heart players are reporting a game-breaking bug where they are suddenly falling through the map during the ‘A Glass, Darkly’ mission and after loading a save file.

Atomic Heart ‘falling through map’ on ‘A Glass, Darkly’ & after loading save file

‘A Glass, Darkly’ is one of the main quests in the game. At a certain point, players come to a section full of crystals where they must take an elevator to continue.

However, according to multiple reports, this particular Atomic Heart section is severely bugged as the elevator ground just disappears, so the player character is constantly falling through the map.

I’m stuck on A Glass, Darkly

So I’m in the quest A Glass, Darkly, I finished repairing the other mirror so it can ascend, the thing is: to exit the undergound part you have to ascend with the mirror, when I jump down to the mirror part the ground just disappears and I fall off the map, need help.

Can’t get past glass darkly quest

Complete the bit until the elevator with the mirrors takes you up to the front door then I just fall through the map or it takes ages to finally load and I get kicked back to Home Screen?? Has this happened to anyone else I’m on Xbox one

Also, there are Atomic Heart players who are facing the ‘falling through map’ issue right after loading a save file. In this case, the bug may appear in other areas randomly.

infinite fall bug still happening

Still falling through the world after loading a save after the magnet facility. I could reload the whole thing again, but i really dont wanna fight the Plyush again, and theres no guarantee the bug wont happen again.

1.3.3.0 Patch did NOT fix the neuromodule issue

What it did do instead, was to bug my last few saves, since loading the game up instantly causes me to fall through the map. πŸ™‚

Devs, any news on when this bug will be fixed. I thought it was meant to be in the previous patch but that never worked.

Try these potential workarounds

That said, there are some workarounds that could help you mitigate this problem while waiting for an official fix.

First, in ‘A Glass, Darkly’, once you get to the elevator section in the crystal area, you must land at the center using jump + air dash, then don’t make any move until you reach the surface (1, 2).

There is a short video where you can see more clearly the area where you should land. Alternatively, you can load a save file to redo the section (you may need to do this multiple times until it works).

But if you are facing the issue right after loading a save file, then it is best to press ‘jump’ frequently once you spawn (just after loading the save file) to escape the ‘fall’.

We will update this story as events unfold.
