New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on July 31, 2020) follows:
The Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and its successor, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 have been in line to receive the Android 10 update for a long time. Both smartphones from the Taiwanese maker released with Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed.
Since their release, the duo has bagged the stable update to Android 9 Pie. Further, both the ZenFone Max Pro M1 and the Max Pro M2 have also received the Android 10 beta update. As a matter of fact, they have now received multiple beta updates.
That might sound like good news, but the thing is that the beta update for the two models went live back on January 31. Thus, it has now been six months since the Android 10 beta was released for the phones.
Unfortunately, the stable update is yet to arrive for either of the two. Typically, the beta testing only lasts a couple of months at max. But even after the testing for these two phones has been going on for over half a year, we still don’t have an ETA for the stable release.
Of course, Asus has been releasing new updates with bug fixes and security patches for the duo. Most recently, the devices bagged the July security update. Not only that, the ZenFone Max Pro M1 and Max Pro M2 have also been getting Android 10 support courtesy of third-party ROMs.
Towards the middle of July, we reported about a new ZenUI port based on Android 10 that is available for both models. Prior to that, the AOSP developer version of Android 10 was also brought over to the Max Pro M2. Thus, it seems Asus is doing a rather poor job for bringing the stable Android 10 update for the two devices officially.
Adding to the disappointment, Asus has not yet provided even a rough idea as to when users can expect to see Android 10 make its way over to the ZenFone Max Pro M1 or the Max Pro M2 for that matter.
Of course, we have been tracking the situation as well and have discussed everything we know about the status of the update. It appears we will have to continue waiting until Asus coughs up more details regarding when to expect the rollout.
In the meantime, you can check out our Asus Android 10 update tracker to know when it arrives on your device. Also, stay tuned to PiunikaWeb to be the first to know when the stable Android 10 update rolls out for the ZenFone Max Pro M1 and ZenFone Max Pro M2.
