This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (published on June 6) follows:
Android 10 is nothing new and has been pushed to the devices for about 9 months or so. Still, until now, when Android 11 is around the corner, most of the OEMs have not yet completed the rollout process to all eligible devices. And Asus is no exception in this case.
The Android 10 update for the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 and Max Pro M1 is still a distant dream, even though the Android 10 beta updates for both the devices has been out since January, this year. With just a few generic statements here and there, Asus has failed to provide any concrete information about any further developments in this regard.
A few days ago, we came up with a report which claimed that the May 2020 patch was an Android 10 preparatory build for the ZenFone Max Pro M1. However, there was nothing certain about it, as this information popped-up from an unofficial Telegram group.
Well, the speculation and rumors around the Android 10 update for the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1/M2 don’t seem to be ending. Recently, some of the users on the official ZenTalk community shared a screengrab of a tweet “allegedly” coming from Asus India which stated that both devices will be picking up the Android 10 update starting June 12, 2020.
However, when we tried to dig up the tweet, we were unable to locate the tweet on the said date by Asus India. Moreover, the whole thread was later deleted from the community. Luckily, we were able to get the cached version of the whole thread, and here what it read:
You might have noticed that the tweets could not be located either in the cached version of the thread as well as on Twitter. Thanks to our team’s efforts, we were able to locate a couple of videos which included the tweets about the Android 10 rollout on June 12 for the ZenFone Max Pro M1 and M2.
We continued with our investigation on this matter and it turned out that the tweet was fake and photoshopped. Before we clarify why it is fake, here is the tweet that we are talking about:
As you can see in the screenshot above, the reason we are calling this tweet fake is the Twitter handle of Asus India (from which the tweet claiming the release on June 12 was posted from on May 27), the verified account mark is missing (the one that can be seen in the image below).
Another point that confirms that this information was fake is that the Asus moderators took down this thread, otherwise, this fake info would have caused some serious confusion among the users, as already some of the users seemed to have fallen into the trap (see below):
To summarize, the tweet that has been circulating has no base to be trusted, and it’s still not clear when is Asus going to rollout the stable A10 update for Max Pro M1 and M2. We’re still hoping June would be the month of the release, but yes, there’s no official confirmation regarding this as yet.
